Basic Commands

There are some fundamental commands you should be aware of. Those commands enable you to accomplish the basic administration of the IDS instance. Most of the commands are described in greater detail in other sections of this Wiki which will be simply referenced in this article. So this article serves as an index page for basic IDS commands.

Environment Settings

All commands imply that you have set the necessary environment variables for the IDS instance you wish to manage. If you followed the instructions describing the creation of your own IDS instance, you can set the necessary environment settings for the penguin instance this way:

  • . /home/informix/instances/penguin/env.sh

Remember to use the leading dot, so that the environment variables are set in the current shell.
