Informix Timeseries Datablade handles 50.000 Time Series Records in a single second

Hildebrand, an energy consulting company, has developed an innovative new software solution that allows the exact tracking of energy consumption at homes. The solution is based on Informix Dynamic Server and exploits the Informix Timeseries DataBlade technology. The results are really impressing.
Excerpt:
"IBM software delivered spectacular results. In the first proof-of-concept we simulated three million homes sending readings once a minute and we were able to capture nearly 50,000 readings per second using only a quad-core, dual-processor Intel server. In the second, we moved to a slightly larger server and found we could deliver analytics response times of between one and three seconds for a similar load," said Clive Eisen, Chief Technology Officer at Hildebrand. "You don't need to understand the technical details ? the point is that suddenly, energy monitoring for three million homes or more became a practical proposition." Traditional databases struggle to deal with time-series data (i.e. 'pulses' of data arriving at regular intervals from one or more sources), because their structure makes it difficult to store and index this data efficiently. Using IBM Informix however, Hildebrand was able to create a single database object for each data-source, and now simply updates it with the latest readings whenever a new 'pulse' of data arrives related to energy consumption. This provides a far more manageable information structure, which makes it easier to store, extract and analyze data.

Just wondering why IBM isn't able to leverage this excellent use of innovative Informix technology within the realms of Smarter Planet advertising. I'm convinced that IBM would have a much greater benefit from their Smarter Planet Advertising when they would describe a real world solution based on innovative IBM technology instead of this uninspired stuff here.

To be fair ...
I think they are trying - it gets prominently featured here.
IBM will never advertise individual products.
Good Link
Thank you Spokey for the link about "Smart Metering".
This is a good one.
However I'm still convinced that a more product focused
advertising strategy would be much more benificial for
IBM itself and definitely for the many Informix business
partners.
Unfortunately IBM has a different thinking about how
clever marketing is done (:- Exchanging the IBM marketing
strategists with the ones from Apple for a couple of
months would probably show how a clever product focused
marketing could accelerate (Informix) sales :-)
