Follow-Up on Marketing Ideas (Business Partner Day, Duesseldorf)
Follow-Up on Marketing Ideas (Business Partner Day, Duesseldorf)
This is the follow-up thread for the IBM IM Conference held in Duesseldorf in May 2007. IBM Business Partners and Customers are invited to share their valuable ideas regarding an efficient and visible marketing around IBM's OLTP flagship database named IDS Cheetah.
Post your ideas and concerns in this forum and let's carry on the constructive conversation we had with IBM at the Business Partner Day in Duesseldorf. Informix is already performing excellent in terms of license growth but with your ideas and the superior technology of IDS we might be able to let it take off and getting Informix once again the only real competitor to old-bull Oracle.

Your input is highly appreciated.
Thank you.
Marketing Proposal 2
Advertise Informix. Do not always talk about SOA or Informix on Demand. These are nice high level concepts, but Business Partners and Customers want to hear the name of the product: INFORMIX.
Advertising the product will create much more awareness. Informix is back, Cheetah will deliver some oustanding functionality that positions it well ahead of Oracle. Talk about the product, talk about the unique capabilities it has and advertise it !!
Unbelievable but true: Oracle and Microsoft are both successful with the concept of product advertising. Why not simply copy and refine their concept of advertising ?
Product Advertising
The statement that IBM does no individual product advertising that we've heard a the Business Partner Day in Duesseldorf is simply not true. The following DB2 advertising graphic can be found on several internet sites outside IBM:

Marketing Proposal 1
Informix needs it's own logo. It is under the umbrella of Information Management. This is ok, but please IBM create an individual logo for Informix.
This will give the product a lot more identity and also Business Partners would be able to use this unique logo in their advertising campaigns. This will result in a much higher identification with the Informix product from the side of the Business Partner as well as from the customer side.
IBM, please provide us with an Informix Logo !!
