Welcome

Hello, and welcome to what I hope will be a regular destination for you. I hope to use this blog to discuss Informix-related things that I find interesting.

About me: I've been working in various Informix-related jobs for over twenty years now. I've never really integrated much into the international Informix community, which was cured by a visit to IIUG this year. I've been thinking about various ways I can try to get more involved, and since I'm full of opinions, a blog seemed like an appropriate way of doing it!

If there is anything that you'd like to see covered, let me know. I'm more of a "big picture" person, so probably not the ideal guy for a detailed exposition of the SQLI protocol, for instance (and that would be breaking my conditions of employment, anyway!) but if there is anything you'd like to hear about, let me know. In general, I don't know much, but I know people who know plenty!

DISCLAIMER: Although I work for IBM, anything that I write here is purely my own opinion and in no way constitutes official IBM policy. The two don't align themselves very well in general.

Spokey's blog

Spokey,

welcome on board !

It is good to see that the Informix Blogosphere is further expanding. I'm absolutely confident that your blog will enrich The Informix Zone and hopefully inspire others to start their own blog as well.

Thank you.

Eric

I envy you !!!

I envy you ...

I've a critical oltp system ,IDS 7.X and esql/c to handle
the very busy oltp system , and then I prepare to
upgrade to IDS 11.50 . Unfortunately , my boss is
convinced by another team member to rebuild the whole
system by sql server and c# ...

I am totally lost -- IDS runs fine these years ,
and I am aure it could be much better if I could
upgrade the hardware and IDS , but ... Another team member
convince my boss that sql server and c# is the main stream,
and my boss buy it ...It is ironic that no one here
is familiar with sql server and c# !!

That is why I envy you ~~~
