IBM RedPaper: IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Databases: Informix

Under: | |

IBM has released a RedPaper, which is an overview of IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Databases: Informix

IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Databases

From the content:

The IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Databases comes with the following modules:
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Databases: DB2, supporting DB2 Version 7.*
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Databases: Oracle, supporting Oracle Versions 8.1.7 and 9.0.1
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Databases: Informix, supporting Informix Versions 7.31, 9.21, and 9.30

Doesn't seem really current to me.

Looking at the latest information about the product on the IBM Tivoli website, it still supports only IDS 7.31, 9.21 and 9.30:

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/tivoli/datasheets/ds-monitor-db.pdf

What about the support of IDS 9.4, 10, 11 and 11.5 in 'Tivoli Monitoring for Databases' ?
As Tivoli is an IBM product, it should support the latest IDS versions, shouldn't it ?

Otherwise the product is simply useless.

Some comments...

Hello Eric and Spokey.
Please note that the document is from 2005... Even other databases support looks old.
Apparently Spokey is on the right track.. Meanwhile I have the idea that this is not exactly the current situation (Tivoli Monitoring current release is at least version 6).
If Spokey needs some info I can point to someone who saw it working with other IDS versions. I cannot assure anyone about any functionality, but that person can give Spokey more details.
If needed, please contact me internally.
Regards

It's funny you should say

It's funny you should say that! I did a little bit of research and emailed a few people and I expect things to change soon.

I dare not say more. :-)

Re: It's funny you should say

Spokey,

good to hear that something is on the way regarding 'Tivoli Monitoring for Databases'. Currently it appears in a bad light.

I think it is important point that IBM make sure that their own software stack supports IDS and runs smoothly with it.

Eric, I couldn't agree more.

Eric,

I couldn't agree more. In fact, this is a personally embarrassing discovery, because I've been going round telling all and sundry that IBM is getting its act together. To be fair, in general, it has.

This kind of thing is always possible when IBM acquires someone and rebrands their stuff before it's gone through all the usual processes. I look forward to updating this thread soon.
